Twice a year, the sleepy little town of Beeville Texas doubles it population when speed enthusiasts from all over the world congregate there for a weekend of "1 mile, 3 days, no speed limit." Yes people this weekend is the October Texas Mile land speed racing standing mile. Everything from home-built speedliners to souped up street cars and exotics and motorcycles are here to fill their need for speed.
I, too, brought my car and have already reset the record for this size motor, but the competition is here and now they've got their sights set on beating me. So far I have my best timeslip of 165.6MPH! and I know I can do better with this little motor (4.4L).
But enough about me. Let's take a look at just a few of the variety of cars here this weekend.
Hopefully, I'll have lots more for tomorrow when the majority of the crowd shows up.
